Introduction
Shrapnel, developed by Neon Machine, is a free-to-play 4v4 objective first-person shooter with asset trading through the Shrapnel Marketplace in the Gala Games ecosystem.
Set in the Sacrifice Zone scarred by a lunar asteroid impact, players compete to control the volatile resource Sigma. The game launched in Early Access on Steam for Windows PC on March 12, 2026, with approximately two months planned before full release.
Story
Set in 2043 after asteroid Sigma-38 collided with the moon five years earlier, lunar meteorites carved out the 500-kilometer-wide Sacrifice Zone. The Valdacha Corporation has now authorized the first sanctioned Sigma Recovery Operation in this storm-ravaged impact zone.
Operators deploy in squads to secure the volatile resource Sigma, whose true power remains unknown amid ongoing meteor strikes and chaos.
Gameplay
Players serve as Operators in 4v4 Stockpile mode, scavenging Sigma from meteor impact craters and depositing 300 grav-kilos at Grav-Sync points before enemy squads while empowered abilities grow stronger with each deposit.
Matches feature unlimited respawns, skill-based matchmaking, shifting objectives, and unpredictable storms plus meteor strikes that create hotspots. Early Access launched with two Operators that expand weekly alongside new abilities and weapons.
- Switch Operators on respawn to adapt with unique primary weapons, Sigma Abilities, and perk progression for roles in mobility, recon, defense, or disruption.
- Customize loadouts from available weapons including ARs, shotguns, SMGs, and throwables while testing progression up to Rank 1 and Level 20.
- Weekly Early Access updates add new Operators, abilities, weapons, and features alongside leaderboards for Sigma deposited.
Economy
Shrapnel’s economy features the Shrapnel Marketplace for trading Operators and cosmetics, including free claims such as the Gala Games Launch Edition skin.
The Printer allows crafting mystery rewards and the Recycle Depot transforms inventory items. The free-to-play model offers optional Battle Passes and cosmetic purchases, with Operators unlockable through in-game progression.
- Marketplace supports buying, selling, and claiming cosmetics and tradable Operators.
- Full blockchain integration on GalaChain is planned post-Early Access.
- Asset ecosystem updates focus on sustainability and expanded features per the official roadmap.
