Intro

Shardbound is a free-to-play, multiplayer collectible tactics game that combines elements of tactical strategy and collectible card games. Set in the floating Axis islands, players build decks and compete in turn-based battles on hex-based grids.

Story

Shardbound is set in a vibrant fantasy world where factions vie for control over floating islands known as the Axis. While the game focuses primarily on strategic battles, the lore reveals the deep-seated conflicts and alliances shaping the game’s factions.

In Shardbound, battles occur on floating islands called shards, created by a great disaster. These islands hold valuable resources like Chromacite, which powers cities. When a shard falls from the sky, factions compete to claim its treasures, turning it into a battleground. Players must navigate dangerous terrain, fight enemies, and outwit rivals to secure the rewards before the shard falls into the planet’s core and is destroyed.

Gameplay

The objective in Shardbound is to either accumulate 8 Victory Points or defeat the enemy’s Commander. Players earn Victory Points by attacking Victory Crystals on the battlefield; each hit awards points, with the final blow granting the most. Players take turns deploying units and casting spells from their custom-built decks onto a hexagonal grid battlefield. Positioning is crucial, as terrain and unit placement can significantly influence the outcome of battles. The game offers a variety of factions, each with unique abilities and playstyles, allowing for diverse strategies and deck combinations.

Economy

Shardbound’s economy allows players to earn cards, cosmetics, and in-game assets through gameplay or purchases. Players use Chroma, the primary in-game currency, to acquire cards, with options like Elemental Shards and Radiant Shards for targeted or premium pulls. Faction Tokens enable players to refine their decks with faction-specific cards. While blockchain integration offers optional ownership of certain assets, it appears to be in early stages and not fully implemented yet.
