Introduction
Yaku is an open-world action MMORPG set in a cyberpunk-fantasy version of 2089, where a single mega-corporation controls daily life. Players explore, fight, and build across a sandbox world that ties in blockchain assets, with the token and core items living on Solana alongside support for other networks. It is free to download and currently in an alpha stage on Windows and Linux, playable through the Epic Games Store and itch.io.
Lore
By 2089, a mega-corporation called Saikou has tightened its grip over nearly every part of life. That order breaks on Emergence Day, when a strange substance known as Seisui appears and spreads both hope and disorder. The Yaku resistance forms around it, using Seisui’s power to push back against Saikou’s control. Players step into this uprising as they trace the substance’s origins and work toward ascension, the path by which mortals transcend into Kami, godlike beings drawn from Japanese myth. The result is a dystopian cyberpunk world layered with older mysticism, where corporate rule and ancient legend collide.
Gameplay
Yaku plays as an open-world hack-and-slash MMORPG. Players start in The Nexus, a central hub with single-player and multiplayer options, character customization, wallet setup, and the first NPCs, then head out into a wider sandbox world to explore, take on quests, and fight. Combat is real-time and skill-based, built around manual aiming, dodging, and combo attacks across both PvE encounters and PvP. Motorcycles handle travel across the open map, and the game rolls out over time through modules and seasons rather than a single fixed release.
- Ascension progression frames advancement as a rise from mortal to Kami-tier power.
- Competitive play includes structured PvP such as the Tournament of the Kami event.
- Territory and control put players in contention over resources and land across the world.
Economy
The economy is built on tradable assets that carry across the game’s supported networks, with the in-game currency used for crafting, upgrading gear, and reaching premium areas and missions. Ownership centers on three NFT collections: genesis avatars, estate parcels, and ONI-S01 motorcycles, each with a role in play and in earning. Staking those NFTs generates token rewards that scale with what is committed, and players can also earn through quests, battles, tournaments, and event airdrops. Assets and the token live primarily on Solana, with secondary trading through Magic Eden, while the wider design reaches across additional chains including Arbitrum and Xai.
- Three NFT lines cover avatars, estates, and motorcycles, each tied to gameplay and rewards.
- Staking rewards come from locking NFTs, scaling with the amount and holding time.
- Multiple earn paths span quests, PvP tournaments, and airdrops from in-game events.
