Introduction
9Lives Arena is a competitive fantasy RPG built around skill-based 1v1 PvP duels, with in-game items backed by Enjin. Players craft gear, train an offline companion called Ooogy, and fight through a permadeath system in a free-to-play beta on the Epic Games Store for PC. Warriors summoned from across history face off in the arena, wagering one of their nine lives on every duel.
Lore
According to 9Lives Arena’s own story, the Draconians, a race of star-faring warriors, once thrived on one-on-one deathmatches across the galaxy. A collision with the ancient city of Atlantis entangled them with humanity through time-bending experiments, and their fascination with Earth’s own legendary heroes led them to summon warriors from across history into a new kind of arena, each granted a mystical belt that allows nine returns from death. Only those who survive all nine trials are said to earn true immortality among the Draconian ranks.
Gameplay
9Lives Arena is built around skill-based 1v1 PvP duels, where players fight through dedicated arenas to level up and unlock talents. Progression is persistent and carries across all of a player’s characters on the same account. The free-to-play beta currently spans five arenas and nine playable factions on PC through the Epic Games Store.
- Freeform character building: no fixed classes, players mix weapon arts, spells, and abilities to shape their own fighting style.
- Permadeath stakes: characters start with nine lives, losing one per arena defeat; a ninth loss kills the character permanently and turns it into a statue in the player’s hall of fame.
- Ooogy companion: a persistent, cross-platform sidekick that gathers resources and crafts items even while the player is offline, and needs to be fed and assigned tasks to stay useful.
Economy
9Lives Arena’s economy runs on Enjin-backed items rather than a dedicated game token. Crafting materials, gear, and companion traits are tied to blockchain assets that players can trade, sell, or melt down for their underlying Enjin Coin value.
- Tradable blueprints: limited-edition blueprints let players craft unique weapon, armor, and shield variants, and can be bought, sold, or traded as NFTs.
- Ooogy NFTs: each Ooogy companion is a distinct NFT with its own traits, tradable independently of its owner’s character.
- In-game marketplace: crafted items, blueprints, and companions change hands through 9Lives Arena’s own marketplace.
