Introduction
Danu: Rise of the Templars, also branded as Avalon, is an open-world fantasy MMORPG and cooperative action RPG from Danu Games, set in a medieval world shaped by an alternate history of the Knights Templar. Players share social servers, take on PvE adventures and four to eight player raids, and hunt rare gear across a large open map. It is in development for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, with a blockchain layer built on Polygon and extended to WAX and Immutable for player-owned assets.
Lore
Avalon builds its world around an alternate-history telling of the Knights Templar, casting the medieval Brotherhood as a secretive order whose true purpose sits at the center of the fiction. Players arrive as outsiders who can support the Templars, dig into their hidden aims, or work against their growing reach. Advancement through the order runs from novitiate toward three inner circles, and players eventually commit to a path such as Templar Knight or Enlightened Templar Knight.
Real Templar history is woven into the fantasy realm, and much of the story surfaces through exploration: underground caves, smugglers’ coves, hidden temples, and buried treasure hoards each hold a piece of the wider mystery. The narrative is designed to grow as the game develops.
Gameplay
Avalon combines open-world MMO play with cooperative action RPG combat in a shared medieval setting. Players roam social servers alongside others, pick up quests, and progress through both solo content and group activity, with character classes shaping how each player fights and specializes. Beyond questing, the world supports player housing and businesses, guild village building, crafting, fishing, and dragon companions, and it can be played from a first person or third person view.
- Shared open world: social servers host up to 50 players per map for exploration and cooperative play.
- Raids and PvP: four to eight player raids and open PvP sit alongside PvE questing.
- Class-based progression: several character classes with distinct abilities steer combat and role choice.
Economy
Avalon’s economy centers on player-owned NFTs that carry gameplay function rather than sitting to the side. Characters, buildings, and land parcels can each exist as tradable assets, and ownership of them is framed as central to long-term progression. Those assets span several networks: the project began on Polygon and has extended to WAX and Immutable, with NFT drops and trading handled through marketplaces such as AtomicHub. No dedicated game token is confirmed at this stage, so in-world currency and item trading drive the economy rather than a listed coin.
- Land ownership: parcels can generate in-world value and act as hubs shaped by player activity.
- Functional NFTs: characters, gear, and buildings serve gameplay roles, not just cosmetics.
- Cross-chain trading: assets move between Polygon, WAX, and Immutable through partner marketplaces.
