Introduction
Guild of Guardians is a free-to-play squad RPG for iOS and Android, built by Immutable Games Studio on the Immutable zkEVM blockchain. Players collect and level a roster of heroes called Guardians, then send them through dungeons in the fantasy world of Elderym. It launched globally in May 2024 and pairs accessible team-building with an economy where in-game assets can be minted, owned, and traded.
Lore
Guild of Guardians is set in Elderym, a world built on the balance between creation and a corrupting force known as the Dread. The Dread emerged during the Time of Creation as a counterweight to all that was made, and where its influence spreads it reanimates fallen beasts and warriors into mindless servants. Players take the role of Summoners who call Guardians into battle to hold that corruption back. Elderym is shaped by three factions with competing ideals: the Keepers, who pursue knowledge and harmony; the Imperials, who chase advancement and authority; and the Redeemers, who fight for empowerment and justice. The Guardians themselves are written with mixed motives rather than as simple heroes, and the world runs through named locations such as the catacombs of Requiem and the flame-wreathed depths of Brimstone.
Gameplay
Players build squads of Guardians and send them into automated combat, picking heroes by class and by battle role so a team can cover damage, healing, and survivability. Progress comes from clearing dungeons, gathering resources, and leveling heroes, with collectible Pets granting passive bonuses across runs.
- Adventure and Endless: the starting modes, where players work through story dungeons and then push an endless run for leaderboard placement.
- Gauntlet: a gearless draft mode that hands players a randomized pool of Guardians to survive escalating waves.
- Arena and Boss Rush: asynchronous PvP against other players’ teams, plus timed damage runs against a Dread boss.
Economy
The economy is built around player-owned assets and a shared currency used to create and trade them. Heroes, Pets, and gear can be minted as blockchain items and sold on the marketplace, while the game’s token serves as the currency for minting and for denominating peer-to-peer sales. Earning is tied to play rather than passive holding: rewards come from leaderboard performance and from an active staking system that pays out only to holders who also play.
- Minting and crafting: turning items into blockchain assets, then merging or crafting them, consumes the in-game currency.
- Enlightenment and Radiance: burning duplicate heroes raises a Guardian’s rarity and stats, with an added Radiance track for minted heroes.
- Active staking: a share of ecosystem fees, funded partly by token buybacks, is redistributed to players who stake and stay active.
