Illuvium

Introduction

Illuvium is an interconnected gaming ecosystem built on the Immutable zkEVM blockchain, officially launching its Open Beta on July 25, 2024. The franchise unites four distinct titles, Overworld, Arena, Zero, and Beyond, into a single experience where assets and progress are shared across different genres.

It operates as a free-to-play economy where players explore, battle, and build in a high-fidelity alien setting.

Lore

Set on a ruined, enigmatic alien planet, the game places players in the boots of a Ranger, a survivor from the crashed intergalactic vessel known as the Leviathan. The world is populated by “Illuvials,” powerful creatures with elemental affinities that roam the fractured landscapes.

As Rangers traverse the dangerous terrain to repair their ship, they must capture these beasts and uncover the planet’s cataclysmic history. Central to the setting is the discovery of “Fuel,” a strange energy source that powers the planet’s technology and drives the conflict.

Gameplay

Illuvium offers a diverse experience where the core objective depends on the specific game mode being played. The ecosystem functions as a unified system where assets acquired in one title are utilized in others:

• Illuvium Overworld: A third-person open-world RPG where players explore 3D environments to hunt, battle, and capture Illuvials.
• Illuvium Arena: A strategic auto-battler featuring PvP ranked matches and PvE survival modes where players deploy their captured teams.
• Illuvium Zero: A city-building simulation for mobile and PC where landholders build industrial complexes to extract resources.
• Illuvium Beyond: A customizable collectible card game focusing on “Illuvitars” and leaderboard competition.

Players progress by expanding their collection of creatures and resources, which directly impacts their effectiveness across the entire ecosystem.

Economy

The economy revolves around the governance token ILV and a unified in-game currency known as “Fuel.” Fuel is sold by the DAO at a fixed price and is essential for all gameplay transactions, such as curing shards, travel, and crafting.

• Revenue Distribution: Proceeds from Fuel sales are distributed to Illuvium Zero landholders based on the amount of fuel burned on their specific plots.
• Unified Currency: A single “Fuel” token replaced previous currencies, such as Solon, Crypton, and Hyperion, to streamline the market on the new chain.
• Asset Ownership: All Illuvials and Land plots exist as NFTs, allowing for trade and utilization across the interconnected game titles.
