Introduction
Metropolis World is a browser-based metaverse that blends social simulation, exploration, and player-driven commerce across a set of themed city-states. Players move through the world as customizable avatars, own and personalize property, and take part in quests and live events. The project centers on the City of Celeste, its first metropolis, with more cities and districts added over time.
Lore
A series of asteroid impacts reshaped civilization into six city-states, each built around a distinct elemental force. These cities became the surviving centers of culture, commerce, and governance, and two groups define daily life within them: the Citizens who anchor the settlements and the Nomads who move between them, with shifting alliances and control over resources driving much of the tension.
The City of Celeste is the first major metropolis and the current heart of the world. It is divided into districts, each with its own environment and opportunities, from residential streets to commercial and cultural quarters. As additional cities come online, the map widens and new locations, characters, and storylines surface for players to explore.
Gameplay
Metropolis World plays as a persistent social world built around customizable avatars. Players enter the city, move between districts, and take part in quests, live events, and community activities while managing the properties they hold. It is designed to stay approachable, keeping wallet and fee steps in the background so the focus stays on exploring, socializing, and building a presence.
- Avatar identity: create and customize an avatar that acts as your key to activities and access across the world.
- Districts to explore: roam distinct areas of Celeste and find quests, venues, and community-run spaces.
- Live culture: attend concerts, exhibitions, and brand collaborations staged inside the city.
Economy
Ownership sits at the center of the economy. Properties, passports, and avatars exist as NFTs that players buy, customize, and trade on secondary marketplaces, while the in-world token handles payments, governance, and access to perks. Passport holders can unlock features, earn token rewards, and reach gated experiences, which ties progression to the assets a player controls.
- Property ownership: 1×1 city plots act as homes, businesses, or event spaces that owners personalize and put to use.
- Passports and perks: passport NFTs gate early drops, special quests, governance rights, and token earning.
- Digital-to-physical goods: some NFTs represent real-world products that can be redeemed for physical counterparts.
