Introduction

Variance is a free-to-play anime roguelike RPG developed by Realm Studios that integrates with the Somnia blockchain network for onchain game progression. Currently in Closed Alpha with access limited to Game Nights and Open Playtests, the game combines high-skill combat with gacha-style progression and live-service elements.

Players take on the role of Ella, battling through relentless foes in a world born from the Realmverse IP.

Narrative

The game’s narrative centers on players controlling Ella as she battles through relentless foes, exploring new levels, and mastering powerful abilities within the Realmverse IP universe. Each character is inspired by beautiful anime artwork and rich stories, featuring a diverse cast including Ella, Astrid, Raya, Rimor, and Brok.

The overarching theme emphasizes heroic progression and legendary achievement, encapsulated in the tagline “Rise into Legend.” The setting draws from Realmverse lore with anime-inspired visual aesthetics.

Gameplay

Players engage in high-skill combat mechanics combined with gacha-style progression systems within a live-service framework. The core objective involves battling foes, exploring new levels, and mastering powerful abilities as Ella progresses through the game world.

Currently accessible only during scheduled Game Nights and Open Playtests in Closed Alpha, the upcoming July playtest will showcase full onchain integration where every action taken in-game is recorded on the Somnia blockchain.

Economy

The game features a dual-asset economy centered on the $VOID token and NFT collections, with a percentage of total $VOID supply allocated to Genesis Portal holders. The Genesis Portal collection provides exclusive rewards including $VOID token allocation, battle passes, premium currency bundles, and variant NFT airdrops.

Genesis Void Collection holders receive monthly rewards of in-game currency bundles, battle passes, DLCs, plus early access and exclusive skins.
