Introduction
Wanderers is a free-to-play sci-fi action roguelite that combines real-time combat with deck-building through its RAM card system. Its playable beta is available in a browser and through Epic Games for Windows and macOS, while the Steam version remains listed as coming soon. Players enter procedurally generated runs to confront the artificial Wormhole threatening the Alliance.
Lore
The story begins with Warp Squad 16, an Alliance peacekeeping unit sent toward a wormhole threatening its homeworld. Passing through it fractures the sixteen pilots into 8,888 iterations known as the Wanderers. They emerge in an unfamiliar star system filled with planets and species previously taken by the same Wormhole. Stranded far from home, the Wanderers search for a route back while surviving a conflict among factions formed around protection, ideology, and power. Back in Alliance space, an investigation follows the disappearance of the original squad, while strange Guardian Marked and Radioactive traits found on some ships remain unexplained.
Gameplay
Wanderers sends players through procedurally generated combat runs built around shooting, melee attacks, dashing, and ability choices. Each attempt starts from the warp gate and feeds into a campaign where new characters, weapons, and abilities expand the available builds. The current beta is primarily a single-player experience.
- RAM deck-building: Equip cards based on memories from past heroes to shape active skills, passive effects, ultimates, boosts, mods, and dashes.
- Run-based progression: Death returns the player to the warp gate, but knowledge and unlocked options support the next attempt.
- Flexible access: Play through a browser without a download or use the Epic Games client on Windows and macOS.
Economy
The economy combines the WANDER token on Base with collectible Wanderers assets and RAM packs. Official documentation says players can stake the token and eligible NFTs to earn Dark Matter, a consumable XP resource tied to rewards, while RAM packs can support performance in skill-based tournaments. RAM minting and trading on Treasure remain planned features rather than current game functions.
- Tournament rewards: Weekly challenges and skill-based competitions can distribute WANDER.
- Collectible utility: Soft-staked Wanderers assets can increase the rate at which a player earns Dark Matter.
- RAM ownership: Purchased packs provide gameplay abilities, with future on-chain minting planned for Treasure.
