Horses in ZED Champions are unique digital assets that can be bred, upgraded, and raced competitively for leaderboard rewards.

Zed Champions was previously live in open beta and playable through a browser. The game features reward systems like seasonal leaderboards, stud auctions, and daily bonuses, with more content planned for Season 1.
Gameplay
ZED Champions is a browser-based PvP horse racing game where players manage a stable of NFT horses that automatically participate in races twice daily. The core gameplay revolves around breeding, racing, augment strategy, and leaderboard progression.
- Racing Pool Structure: The Racing Pool is capped at 4,320 horses. Each horse races automatically in 8-horse events twice per day. No manual entry is required — results are tracked on live leaderboards.
- Stud Marketplace & Breeding: Horses are introduced through auctions in the Stud Marketplace. Every player starts with a Soulbound Mare that can breed three times. Winning an auction creates a foal that enters the Racing Pool immediately.
- Buying Horses: Players can purchase race-ready horses from the marketplace. Filters like bloodline, star rating, and internal balance help guide strategic purchases.
- Augments System: Each horse has three Augments that enhance performance. These can be passive or conditional, providing advantages during specific race conditions such as last-place boosts or endurance bonuses.
- Horse Progression & Retirement: Horses can be manually retired after five races or automatically retired if their internal $ZED balance depletes. Retiring frees Racing Pool slots and returns remaining value to the player.
Economy
ZED Champions operates on a dual-token system powered by $ZED and reZED. The economy is tightly integrated into gameplay, with all actions — from breeding and auctions to racing and leaderboard progression — requiring $ZED or its in-game counterpart.
- $ZED Token: $ZED is the main utility token used for breeding, purchases, race stakes, and ecosystem rewards. It must be held in your in-game ZED Champions wallet to participate in core features.
- reZED (In-Game Currency): reZED mirrors the value of $ZED (1:1) but cannot be withdrawn or traded. It’s earned through achievements, bounties, and milestones, and can be used for breeding, staking, and future Augment purchases.
- Internal Balances: Each horse carries an internal $ZED balance used for automated race staking (up to 10% per race). Performance impacts this balance, which influences leaderboard standing and retirement triggers.
- Bridging & Wallets: Players with $ZED on Polygon must bridge to Base via zed.run. New players can acquire ETH, bridge it to Base, and swap for $ZED before sending it to their in-game wallet. Wallets are automatically created during account setup.
