Introduction

Cambria is a 2D sandbox MMORPG set in a medieval frontier world, playable via browser and built on Ronin, Abstract (EVM), and Ethereum L1. The game is currently in closed seasonal alpha and features limited free-to-play access, with full earning access gated by on-chain asset ownership.

Players take on the role of explorers entering a corrupted continent to seek treasure, defend their settlements, and shape regional power.

Lore

Cambria unfolds on New Cambria, a newly charted continent devastated by an unknown catastrophe. The Crown dispatches adventurers under Royal Charter to reclaim territory, uncover lost relics, and expand its influence. The region is plagued by monstrous threats, including vampires and cultists, and fractured by rival factions such as the Holy Church and imperial sorcerers.

Players begin at the fortified Capital City and venture into wilderness zones shaped by past trauma and emerging corruption. Seasonal updates advance the world’s development and reflect the evolving stakes of player-driven exploration.

Gameplay

Cambria is a skill-based sandbox MMO where players build, explore, and fight in a shared 2D open world. Core activities include gathering, crafting, and engaging in both PvE and PvP. Players level up combat and profession skills, earn loot, and participate in risk-oriented encounters. The Duel Arena features real-time 1v1 combat with stance-based strategy and optional crypto wagers.

  • Players unlock skill caps using in-game currency and invest mastery points for passive combat bonuses.
  • PvP risk tiers determine item loss and zone behavior, with mechanics like loot bags and fencing.
  • Guild leaders and sponsors manage shared chests, member roles, and loot splits.

Gold Rush Mode (Seasonal MMO)

Gold Rush is Cambria’s primary seasonal mode where players start fresh each season, build progression, and compete for crypto rewards. Each run resets character progress but tracks performance for airdrops and prizes.

  • Players earn Royal Favor from loot and climb season leaderboards for ETH payouts.
  • Viceroys (guild leaders) and Paymasters (investors) support players via sponsorships and taxation systems.
  • PvPvE zones escalate in danger, from moderate loss areas to high-risk black zones with public bounty systems.

Economy

Cambria’s economy is structured around player-owned assets and competitive reward systems. Players receive ETH or RON by performing well in seasonal events, wagering in PvP, or cashing in loot via seasonal mechanics. A native token is planned but not yet live; interim currencies like Trinkets and Essence represent future airdrop allocations.

The game also uses in-game currencies such as Royal Favor, Coins, and Arena Tokens. These are earned through gameplay activities like combat, skilling, or duels and are used to unlock upgrades, purchase energy, or gain leaderboard position. These currencies are off-chain and operate within the closed seasonal economy.

  • Founder, Core, and Island assets are traded on-chain and confer in-game bonuses or staking benefits.
  • Royal Charters enable players to participate in earning systems and sponsor others through guilds or syndicates.
  • Companions, land raffles, and Luck Index mechanics add variable and gamified reward structures.

Gold Rush Economy

Gold Rush seasons feature a time-limited economy with defined inputs and outputs. Players contribute to and earn from an ETH prize pool funded by in-game purchases. Airdrops and raffles supplement this with off-chain reward tracking.

  • Paymasters deposit Charters into Syndicate Vaults to earn from taxes on solo player activity and Charter sales.
  • Viceroys structure guild economies by negotiating Royal Favor splits and managing Contribution Points.
  • Bribes, Trinkets, and Land Raffles introduce random chance mechanics into reward allocation.
