Introduction
RavenQuest is a free-to-play sandbox MMORPG from Tavernlight Games, presented in top-down pixel art and built around a fully player-driven economy. It runs on Windows and Android with crossplay progress, is distributed through the Epic Games Store, and settles its Web3 layer on Immutable zkEVM. The game reached global release in March 2025 and expands on the world first established by the studio’s earlier title, Ravendawn.
Lore
RavenQuest is set on Ravendawn, a continent discovered at the dawn of the Third Era. After the Second Era tore the old homeland of Lyderia apart and sank its cities beneath the ocean, the explorer Lucien Ravencrest led a band of adventurers west across the Endless Seas in search of new land. Each morning he released ravens to scout the horizon, and they always returned to the ship, until one day they did not. The land they found was named Ravendawn in honor of those ravens and the golden sun cresting over its shores. Players arrive as newcomers to this frontier, free to farm, trade, fight, or explore while the world keeps its history, hidden dangers, and a landscape shaped by the community.
Gameplay
Character building runs on the Archetype system: instead of picking a fixed class, players combine three of eight Archetypes into one of 56 possible builds, mixing combat roles with gathering and crafting skills. Play spans open-world PvE, guild wars over territory, cooperative dungeons, and the Tyrant System, an endgame added in the Rise of Tyrants expansion that sends five-player teams against dedicated boss encounters.
- Tradepacks: craft and haul goods between regions, with payouts tied to live supply and demand.
- Ravencards: collectible cards that modify individual abilities so a build can be retuned for different fights.
- Estates: an open-world housing system for claiming land, farming crops, raising livestock, and building.
Economy
The economy is player-driven, with the studio staying out of direct market intervention. In-game Silver handles everyday transactions, while the QUEST token sits on top as the tradable ecosystem currency tied to land rewards, sinks, and player achievements. Nearly every item is crafted by players from gathered or Estate-produced resources, so supply flows from the community rather than from vendors.
- Land ownership: holders of Estate NFTs earn a share of the rewards generated by activity on their land.
- Tradable assets: ships, wagons, and other utility items exist as NFTs that players buy and sell on the open market.
- Player production: resources gathered in the world or farmed on Estates feed a crafting chain that supplies the market.
