Valannia has outlined the movement and mount systems arriving with Path of the Realms, the launch that will introduce a browser-based 3D persistent world set in the region of Lyria. A standard hero without speed upgrades crosses the full width of the Lyria map in approximately one hour, while an initial collection of 1,888 mounts will offer travel speeds ranging from 3.3 to 11 Lyrias per hour. The launch will also begin blockchain integration and the start of an in-game economy as outlined in the project’s whitepaper.
What Changed
- Path of the Realms introduces a browser-based 3D persistent world, described as potentially the largest world built under these technical conditions.
- Heroes now occupy a physical location in the world and travel real distances, making movement a core gameplay element rather than a secondary one.
- Biomes including forests, deserts, mountains, swamps, and volcanic zones will apply terrain affinity bonuses or penalties to movement, becoming a strategic factor as Realms expands.
- A mount system is being introduced alongside Path of the Realms, with mounts requiring fuel, wear management, and repairs as part of normal use.
- Blockchain integration and the in-game economy described in the whitepaper will begin rolling out over the months following the launch.
Dates and Rollout
- Biomes will not be active in the first module of Realms but are planned for later stages.
- The first 100 people to mint a mount ORB will have a chance to receive one of three unique mounts with a supply of 1.
Numbers and Rules
- A standard hero with no speed investment travels at approximately 1 Lyria per hour, which is the world’s base movement pace.
- Heroes with attributes, equipment, or upgrades invested in speed can reach between 1.5 and 1.7 Lyrias per hour.
- The initial mount collection is capped at 1,888 units and will not be generated again after this release.
- Mounts in the first collection reach speeds from 3.3 Lyrias per hour up to 8 Lyrias per hour, depending on type.
- The Qwemzi Divine Sun, a unique mount with a supply of 1, reaches a speed of 11 Lyrias per hour.
- The three mount categories are animal, mechanical, and magical, each with distinct speeds, fuel types, durability levels, and terrain interactions.
- The Krazy Keg Steel Edition travels at 7.45 Lyrias per hour but carries a 5% terrain affinity bonus in desert and a 20% disadvantage in forest.
- Early minters will receive a discount, and the first 100 mount ORB minters are the only pool eligible for one of three supply-of-1 mounts awarded at random.
